If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an organised individual who enjoys a varied workload to join us at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) as a Talent and Development Project Support Officer.
Please note: This is a part-time role of 24 hours a week ideally spread across Monday to Thursday, however, this is negotiable. The salary is pro-rata as the vacancy is part-time,
The Talent and Development (T&D) team own an ambitious Leadership Development Programme which is a key deliverable in the MCA internal business plan. The team uses Scrum, an agile project management approach, to maximise efficiency and output.
You will be the first point of contact for stakeholders and MCA staff dealing with all training-related queries and requests. The successful candidate will provide vital support to the Project Manager and the wider development team. You will manage all internal and external communications for the team and process all of MCA’s training requests. You will be responsible for the budgeting functions relating to training bookings and will provide guidance on the relevant processes required.
We are following current government guidelines and working remotely, if successful you will be provided with IT equipment to carry out your duties remotely. Once we are able to return to the office, we will provide you with full notice of this.
Once usual service resumes, there may be occasional requirements for you to travel, but you will be notified in advance. This will be minimal.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Managing all internal and external communications for the team and provide high-quality responses within Service Level Agreement framework.
• Make recommendations for approval of training requests made by colleagues within the MCA and manage the end-to-end booking process.
• Be responsible for the budgeting functions relating to training bookings, provide guidance on appropriate governance and ensure assurance processes are followed.
• Identification and implementation of ways to improve team processes to maximise efficiency.
• Assist the Project Manager role with Scrum meetings and supporting processes such as information management (e.g. Asana task management).
• Provide effective support to individual learning and development projects which may include delegate attendance management, liaison with stakeholders, provision of learning materials, technical assistance, and supporting trainers

We are looking for someone who has the ability to work well under pressure and at pace, remaining composed and showing resilience whilst supporting multiple projects and changing demands.
You will be proactive in seeking resolutions and can use your problem solving skills to resolve issues that arise through your quick thinking and decision making skills.
It is essential that you have experience of using Microsoft Applications, in particular Excel and Teams.
